PCB management and disposal
PCB management and disposal projects aim to create fundamental capacities within government, institution and PCB owners for complying with the PCB-related obligations under the Stockholm Convention on POPs.
The PCB management project work through a stepwise process to enhance the understanding and capacities for sound PCB management. The steps entail
1. Increased knowledge and scope of the PCB situation through inventorying and assessment
2. Training of PCB holders, authorities and related service providers.
3. Developing a comprehensive PCB management plan from company basis.
4. Introduction of technologies and approaches for decontaminating and disposing of PCB containing equipment and material.
UNIDO has implemented or is currently implementing PCB project in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Macedonia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Republic of Congo, Romania, Russia and Turkey.
