Rehabilitation of the agricultural machinery manufacturing sector
This project aims to assist Angola in its economic recovery and the rehabilitation of its manufacturing sector.
Before the conflict five companies in particular were significant contributors to agricultural production through the manufacture of farming tools and implements. Today, they are working at a small fraction of their previous capacity or are at a complete standstill.
These five pilot enterprises will be rehabilitated by providing them with some or all of the following: replacement/new machinery; spare parts for existing machines; manufacturing consumables; raw materials and product components. In addition, their competitiveness will be enhanced in terms of local manufacturing of basic tools and agricultural machinery and marketing.
The project will also provide technical assistance to solve the particular problems identified during the UNIDO assessment undertaken in November 2003. The technical assistance will focus on certain fields including mechanical engineering, machine tool electrics, induction furnaces, marketing, and business management.
