Youth Led Development Programme

The Youth Led Development Programme is an approach used by UNIDO in tackling the issue of youth unemployment in the Mano River Union countries (Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Ivory Coast). The programme is proposed as a sustainable solution to the substantive lack of intervention in favour of marginalized youth, and youth groups.

In fact, the vast pool of potential but highly unapplied talents could translate into a bottom-up approach enabling the creation of viable businesses and social enterprises, ensuring self-sustainability, peer-to-peer support, as well as strengthening social capital, a vital element in a sound business en¬vironment.

The programme also addresses youth unemployment with an innovative approach that involves youth in the programme development and evaluation in order to create viable outlets that enable them to play an active role at the community, regional and national level. The EDP also offers platforms and communication tools for the creation of strategic networks within and outside the country of reference.
