ACCRA, 12 June 2012 - Helping Ghana’s fruit and vegetable producers conform to international standards is the focus of a workshop organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Accra this week.
The event brings together growers, processors, exporters, representatives of horticulture associations, standard institutions, as well as international experts.
The workshop is part of a trade-capacity building programme funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented by UNIDO.
The programme has already provided technical assistance to a range of local institutions in areas such as standards, certification, accreditation, and testing. It will also help improve export quality, extend value addition and assure compliance with market requirements for commodities including fruits and vegetables, fish, wood and cocoa.
