GENEVA, 27 November 2019 - On Wednesday 27th November, during the COP3 of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, UNIDO and UNEP organized a side event presenting the global status and progress of the National Action Plans and sharing challenges and possible solutions among participants with the collaboration of the governments of Ecuador and Uganda, the Artisanal Gold Council and WHO.
GENEVA, 26 November 2019 -  In the framework of the third Conference of the Parties of the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP3), the government of Switzerland, UNIDO and the Better Gold Inititative organized a side event focused on mercury-free artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) that aimed at discussing the implementation of the Multilateral Environmental Agreement regarding this sector in several countries.

OUAGADOUGOU, 12 September 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will implement a project to eliminate mercury and improve the gold supply chain in the artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector in Burkina Faso.

MANILA, 30 July 2019 - The National Action Plan (NAP) for the phase-out of Mercury-Added Products (MAPs) and the management of the associated mercury-containing wastes was adopted by the Philippines with the support of the government of Switzerland and UNIDO in an effort to protect public health and the environment from the adverse impacts of mercury pollution.
DHAKA, 16 July 2019 - The Government of Bangladesh, the Government of Switzerland and UNIDO organized a workshop in Dhaka to discuss the guidelines on the environmentally sound management of mercury containing lighting sources. These guidelines will assist Bangladesh in the ratification and implementation of the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

CAIRO, 28 March 2019 - The Minamata Initial Assessment (MIA) validation workshop for Yemen took place from 25 until 28 March 2019 in Cairo. This Enabling Activity, signed in 2014, has been funded by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and implemented by UNIDO with the support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and UNITAR as executing agencies.
