LDC Ministerial Conference 2015
Operationalizing ISID for LDCs: The path to graduation and beyond
The sixth edition of UNIDO's Least Developed Countries’ (LDC) Ministerial Conference was held in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, from 26 to 27 November 2015 in Vienna, right before the 16th session of the UNIDO General Conference.
This LDC conference connected over 250 participants including LDC ministers, and representatives from UN agencies, regional economic communities, institutions in emerging countries, donors and private sector entities. The participants discussed the best path to graduation out of the LDC category and the innovative ways to sustain structural change and capitalize on achievements.
The conference consisted of the following six sessions:
Session 1: Ministerial debate on progress made by LDCs towards graduation
Session 2: SDG 9 and the path to graduation
Session 3: Mainstreaming ISID into national policies and programmes
Session 4: Making partnerships work: development and integration tools to foster private sector development in LDCs
Session 5: Means of implementation
Session 6: Sustainability and the way forward
The panels of these sessions were comprised of high-level members from academia, the private sector, UN agencies and governments. There were opportunities for participants to form linkages and partnerships.
In addition, a study tour was organized, highlighting innoative industrial and business practices in Austria.
The conference was also the platform to launch the "Inclusive development and entrepreneurship for all (IDEA)" project.
