High-level Ministerial Policy Dialogue in the framework of the 53rd Session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development

22 March 2021 - UNIDO Director General LI Yong participated in the High-level Ministerial Policy Dialogue organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in the framework of the 53rd Session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development under the theme : "Africa's sustainable industrialization and diversification in the digital era in the context of COVID-19". During his intervention, UNIDO Director General elaborated on the key messages and recommendations of UNIDO’s Industrial Development Report 2020 - Industrializing in the digital age, stressing that by engaging with an inclusive and sustainable industrialization, countries can build and strengthen the skills and capabilities needed to compete and succeed within the new technological paradigm. The ministerial policy dialogue brought together leaders, policymakers and captains of industry looking for solutions to address pressing challenges and opportunities for growth, job creation and sustainable development in the digital era.
