VIENNA, 9 April 2018 - Director General LI Yong met with Jean-Michel Severino, CEO of Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) to explore opportunities for future collaboration.
I&P – an important impact investing organization based in France – is greatly interested in providing equity finance for future investment projects emanating from UNIDO’s investment promotion work in Africa, and in particular in francophone African countries.
Specific focus will be on projects that balance environmental, social and governance criteria and that make a measurable contribution to inclusive and sustainable industrial development. UNIDO and I&P will look into opportunities for tackling some of the roots causes of migration, including through the creation of decent jobs for all and by ensuring access to energy, health and education.
The key role of development finance institutions and of the private sector in helping countries achieve their industrial development goals in a sustainable manner – among others through UNIDO’s multi-stakeholder partnership model: the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) – was also discussed.
