LJUBLJANA, 31 October 2018 – A delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic took part in a one-week study tour to Slovenia, which was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic development and technology of Slovenia, and which took place within the framework of the project in the Issyk-Kul region financed by the Russian Federation.
The study tour allowed Kyrgyz government officials, representatives of agro-processors and tour operators to learn from the success stories of Slovenian service providers operating in the agro sector and in tourism. “If you invite your competitors to participate, they become your partners and the entire region can increase the quality of service”, said the owner of the organic tourist farm Urska.
The Kyrgyz delegation also visited Goriska brda, which was once the least developed region of Slovenia and which is now booming: cooperation and smart local policy combined with successful fund sourcing can have a transformative effect.
In addition to meeting the private sector, the Kyrgyz delegation were also welcomed at the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology where participants were briefed on the Strategy for the Sustainable Growth of Slovenian Tourism for 2017-2021. At the Slovenian Agricultural Institute in Ljubljana, Kyrgyz delegation was given lectures on berries and on stone fruits.
