24 June 2020

MSMEs report cover

VIENNA, 24 June 2020 - The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has published "Responding to the COVID-19 Crises: Pathway to Business Continuity & Recovery - Guidance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)”.

With a focus on business recovery and business continuity planning, the publication can be used by all types of enterprises to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also provides many hints on existing international standards as well as resources related to transforming industry that enterprises can refer to as they address threats and disruptions to their activities.

The guidance has been developed within the framework of UNIDO’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic which is based on mutually inclusive pillars, namely partnerships to accelerate the global response, integrated service packages tailored to each member state’s particular situation and needs, and capacity building and knowledge exchange based on lessons learned, best practices and best available technologies.

The publication is being presented at a virtual event on 25 June 2020 celebrating international MSME Day, organized by the Permanent Mission of Argentina, UNCTAD, UNDESA, UNIDO and the International Council for Small Business (ICSB). This event brings together ministers, high-level policymakers, leaders of major international organizations, business associations, academics and other key stakeholders in the private and public sector to contribute to the collective voice of MSME solidarity. The event will provide an opportunity for an interactive stakeholder dialogue on how to support MSMEs in these difficult times.
