UNIDO and Japan to organize Tokyo Green Industry Conference in November
TOKYO/VIENNA, 3 October 2011 – Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will hold the Tokyo Green Industry Conference from 16 to 18 November.
The event will bring together some 700 participants, including high-level government officials from Japan, BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and Asian countries, as well representatives of the private sector interested in forming technology partnerships.
The Conference comes at a very important when Japan, dealing with the consequence of the Tsunami, has heightened awareness for energy efficiency as well as for alternative sources of energy.
On a global level, the Conference will foster the development of a Green Industry Action Agenda, which could contribute to the forthcoming Rio+20 negotiations.
The 2009 Manila Declaration on Green Industry in Asia is also expected to be reviewed.
