DAKAR, 3 November 2016 – The Government of Senegal today held a launch ceremony announcing it will host the fifth Forum on Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (ISID). The Forum, organized in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), will take place on 14 and 15 November.
“Industry will develop Senegal,” said Minister of Industry and Mines, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye, underlining the Government’s focus on the industrial component of the national development strategy, namely the Plan Sénégal Émergent, which is being implemented with the support of UNIDO’s Programme for Country Partnership (PCP).
The Government of Senegal intends that Fifth ISID Forum will strengthen the dialogue between industrial stakeholders in Senegal and regional and international partners. It will also present the cooperation between Senegal and UNIDO to other African countries as a successful example of UNIDO’s PCP model.
Many participants attended the launch, including high-level government representatives, and representatives of the private sector and the press.
