VIENNA, 11 September 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Romanian Agency for International Development (RoAid) expressed interest in developing a collaborative partnership to advance shared strategic priorities in the areas of sustainable economic growth and industrial development.
“In addition to an overall cooperation framework, the meeting should explore concrete partnership opportunities within the projects proposed under UNIDO’s Country Programme in the Republic of Moldova”, said UNIDO Director General LI Yong.
Launched in May 2019, the UNIDO Country Programme in the Republic of Moldova aims to strengthen efforts towards sustainable and inclusive growth through dedicated activities across several thematic areas including enhanced industrial competitiveness; market access; innovation and investment promotion; productive employment for rural communities and entrepreneurship development; and sustainable energy and environmental management.
“Romania is a committed strategic development partner to the Republic of Moldova and the broader region”, said RoAid Director General Catalin Harnagea.
UNIDO project managers subsequently presented key themes and areas for engagement in the Republic of Moldova and highlighted ways UNIDO has successfully partnered with other donors to deliver resounding outcomes. Both parties agreed to build on the momentum generated to promote and upscale inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the Republic of Moldova as well as in other target countries.
