VIENNA, 17 December 2018 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Roscongress Foundation – a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of conventions, exhibitions and public events in the Russian Federation – signed a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes a framework for cooperation and that defines the terms and general conditions that will govern the cooperation between UNIDO and the Roscongress Foundation.
UNIDO and the Roscongress Foundation have successfully worked together on several events, including on the First Interregional Forum “Women’s Entrepreneurship – Challenges and Solutions in Europe and the Arab Region”; on the Second Interregional Forum “Strengthening International SME Alliances between the Russian Federation and the Latin America and the Caribbean countries (LAC)”; and on the International Forum “Increasing women’s contribution to economic growth: Creating an enabling environment”, which all took place during the 2017 and the 2018 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Most recently, UNIDO and the Roscongress Foundation worked on the International Expert Session “UNIDO: A Global Platform for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship”, which was organized within the framework of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum in 2018.
The Memorandum of Understanding expands the collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including investment promotion, trade, entrepreneurship and private sector development, women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and leadership, innovation and technology promotion, creative industries, tourism and others. Both sides will strive to facilitate new, or to strengthen existing alliances between stakeholders, and to enhance the exchange of information.
The document was signed by LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO, and Alexander Stuglev, Chief Executive Officer of the Roscongress Foundation, in the presence of Mikhail Ulyanov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna.
