STOCKHOLM, 17 May 2019 – Innovation is integral to a country’s performance, and developing countries need to unleash their innovation potential to facilitate their transition to the digital economy. By becoming the newest liaison member of the Technical Committee of ISO on Innovation Management (ISO/TC 279), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) seeks to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two entities and further disseminate innovation tools, especially to foster entrepreneurship and enhance productivity, in developing countries.
“UNIDO looks forward to contributing to the work of the Technical Committee 279”, said UNIDO Industrial Development Officer Raymond Tavares. “Already, we prepared a handbook with a step by step overview and explanation of the newly-developed ISO 56002, which will provide a way forward for managing innovation in all kind of organizations, and especially in SMEs”.
The UNIDO handbook provides simple and applicable ideas; expands on the ones provided by the ISO 56002 standard; and helps organizations implement an Innovation Management System based on international best practices.
