Zemedeneh Negatu is the Global Chairman of the Fairfax Africa Fund. He previously served as the Managing Partner for Ernst & Young (E&Y) in Ethiopia and the Head of the Transaction Advisory Services for Eastern Africa, which included Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and several other countries. Before that he served on the firm’s Africa board and as a member of the E&Y Global Partner Council. Mr. Negatu has extensive experience living and working around the world including in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina and Saudi Arabia. His global clients have ranged from Fortune 500 companies to Latin American multinationals. He has advised clients across Africa in various sectors, including financial services, airlines, telecommunication, manufacturing and agro-industry. Previously, Mr. Negatu led the E&Y team which helped transform Ethiopian Airlines into Africa’s second biggest airline and more profitable than all African airlines combined. He has a business degree from Howard University, Washington D.C., completed the LSE programme at the Harvard Business School, Boston, in addition to being a Certified Public Accountant.
