Sufang Zhang is a professor at the School of Economics and Management, and director of the Institute for Low Carbon and Trade, University of North China Electric Power University (NCEPU). She is also an energy policy adviser of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), research fellow of the Research Center for Beijing Energy Development. and an Honorary Associate of International Development Studies (IDS) based at the University of Sussex, UK. Prof. Zhang had been a visiting scholar at University of Washington (USA) and Carleton University (Canada). Her research interest over the past decade has been on energy economics and policy, particularly China’s renewable energy policy. Since 2011 She has led several energy research projects supported by the Chinese central and local governments, and international non-government organizations such as ADB and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) . She has published many peer refereed papers in academic journals including Energy Policy, Applied Energy, Energy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Renewable Energy, among others. Her recent book (coauthored with Dr. Philip Andrews-Speed) entitled China as a Global Clean Energy Champion: Lifting the Veil will be published in 2019.
