Ms. Laksmi Dhewanthi is a government official with at least 26 years of experience in the field of environment and sustainable development. She is currently working in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Republic of Indonesia as Senior Advisor on Industry and International Trade.
Prior to her current position, she has been assigned for various tasks, including Director for Performance Assessment of Hazardous Waste Management and Assistant Deputy Minister for Environmental Data and Information and for Environmental Economic in which her responsibilities include development of State of the Environment Report (SOER) and Environmental Quality Index, establishment a national system for environmental data and information, development and implementation of various economic instruments for environmental protection and management, i.e. environmental financing program, fiscal and financial incentives schemes and natural resources accounting.
She received a Master degree on Environment and Development Policy at the Sussex University, UK. At the international fora, since 2003, she has been involving in environmental-related trade and climate change negotiation as well as in sustainable development related talks. In the period of 2013 - 2014, she represented Asian Region as a member of CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) Executive Board of UNFCCC and a past immediate of President of Asia Pacific Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP). She is currently appointed as Global Environment Facility Operational Focal Point (GEF-OFP) for Indonesia.
