Through the resolution adopted by the UNIDO General Conference at its eighteenth session in November 2019, Member States called on the Secretariat to facilitate the sharing of experiences and best practices among current and prospective PCP countries.
To respond to this request from Member States, UNIDO organizes peer learning sessions for representatives of current PCP countries and countries interested in the PCP model.
The first PCP peer learning session took place on 2 February 2021, via Zoom with the objective to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices on selected topics relevant to advancing ISID within the framework of the PCP. Find more information about PCP here.
The event focused on the following two topics:
-
Stakeholder coordination and partnership and resource mobilization for flagship industrial projects.
-
Establishment of industrial zones/special economic zones.
The session was attended by high-level government officials, Permanent Missions and representatives of specialized national institutes from PCP countries and other countries interested in the PCP model.
UNIDO will facilitate additional peer learning sessions in 2021, expanding on the experience sharing countries, topics and participants.
