Partnering for Stability and Recovery in Somalia
Five projects in the Federal Republic of Somalia placed great emphasis on upgrading vocational and commercial skills, especially for youth and women.
Cabo Verde - Empowering youth for change
The Entrepreneurship Curriculum Programme was implemented in 12 selected pilot schools, with 100 teachers having participated in in-service teacher training.
Global - Agribusiness and agro-industrial development
In partnership with other development partners and UN organizations, UNIDO initiated a joint programme (3ADI) in the areas of agribusiness value chains, food security, policies, financing and related trade. The initiative calls for the accelerated development of agribusiness and agro-industries to ensure value addition to agricultural products of developing countries.
Lebanon - Creating sustainable livelihoods for communities affected by influx of Syrian refugees
This project is designed to improve livelihood opportunities available in the host communities in Northern Lebanon affected by the refugee influx. It goes about this by increasing job opportunities in the furniture industry, particularly, in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
Southern Mediterranean - Development of Clusters in Cultural and Creative Industries
Through clusters and business linkages, UNIDO is strengthening the formal private sector in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia, as well as promoting regional cooperation in the Southern Mediterranean.

Colombia - Quality programme for the cosmetics sector
The objective of the project is to foster Colombia's integration into the regional and multilateral trading systems by enhancing its trade capacities and performance. This will be achieved partly through the strengthening of the National Quality Infrastructure and a first pilot support programme aimed at enhancing and improving the cosmetic sector’s capacity, in particular products derived from natural ingredients, to comply with international quality, private and sustainability standards.
Côte d'Ivoire - Improving the competitiveness of Ivorian enterprises in non-traditional export sectors
The programmen aims to improve the quality infrastructure of 16 West African states, thereby increasing the competitiveness of enterprises across the region, while ensuring better consumer protection.

Global - Trade facilitation: smoothing the path to global markets
The requirements of WTO’s new Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and other agreements represent a major challenge as well as an enormous opportunity for developing countries who rarely have adequate facilities in place to boost trade. UNIDO's programme offers support to member countries to overcome the challenges and make the most of this opportunity. The essential building block for effective and efficient implementation of TFA lies in testing, inspection and
certification.
Haiti - Improve trade integration
The project aims to strengthen Haiti’s export capacity and improve its competitiveness in regional and international markets. The main focus is to set up a Haitian Bureau of Standards or Bureau Haïtien de Normalisation to help create an environment that will support the reconstruction process, encourage exports, and protect consumers from poor-quality products.

The comprehensive technical support programme addresses all essential elements in Iraq’s National Quality System: quality policy and legal reforms, standardization,
metrology, accreditation and conformity assessment services.
Malawi - Development of a robust standardization, quality
assurance, accreditation and metrology infrastructure
The objective of the project is to strengthen the overall national quality conformity assessment infrastructure and integrate it into the international quality infrastructure. The project will focus on assisting agro-based producers and organizations in achieving relevant certification for selected products and increasing income for smallholder farmers.
Mozambique - Business environment support and trade facilitation
UNIDO supported the establishment of a legal metrology framework in Mozambique and helped the National Institute of Standardization and Quality to develop its legal metrology services.
Myanmar - Strengthening the national quality infrastructure
UNIDO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association, is strengthening Myanmar’s
national capacity to provide internationally recognized laboratory testing services to food producers and exporters.
Pakistan - Trade related technical assistance programme
To help revive Pakistan’s fishery exports, UNIDO implemented two successive trade-related technical assistance programmes. They assisted the Marine Fisheries Department in applying Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, and cold chain procedures along the supply chain.
Sri Lanka - Enhance the competitiveness of cinnamon value chain
The prroject promotes internationally recognized food safety certifications, especially GMP certification for processing units. It is also helping Sri Lanka obtain Geographical Indication (GI) protection for Ceylon Cinnamon.

In order to improve access to modern, reliable and affordable energy services and accelerate the uptake of renewable and energy efficiency technologies, the project assisted the ECOWAS countries in the establishment of ECREEE, a unique regional renewable energy and energy efficiency promotion agency in sub-Sahara Africa.
