UNIDO Director General at COP24

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong delivered opening remarks at a COP24 side-event on "Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Investment for Climate Solutions". The side-event was organized by UNIDO's Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) and Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property and National Science and Technology Development Agency.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Following his participation in the side-event on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Investment for Climate Solutions, Director General LI Yong visited a booth presenting the innovations which were awarded the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) prize.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong met with the President of COP24, Michał Kurtyka, State Secretary in the Ministry of Energy in Poland. DG Li also met with the COP20 President, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal and COP21 President, Laurent Fabius.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong delivered a statement at the Climate Technology Centre and Network's (CTCN) 5th Year Anniversary side-event at COP24. The event was organized by CTCT and the Government of Korea.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong delivered a statement at a COP24 side-event on "Gender and Climate Change: Showcasing Gender-Responsive and Climate Resilient Initiatives". The event was organized by the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and Women & Gender Constituency.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong presented a Gender Just Climate Solutions Award to Trupti Jain of Naireeta Services for combining women’s leadership with low cost and sustainable technology to tackle the severe impacts of excessive rain water from storms. This technology protects groundwater via a filtration system and increases soil fertility by reducing salinity. While women still do not own the land, by owning the technology they help their community double their harvest, which in turns has a tremendous impact on their role in the community as decision-makers.

The awards were presented during a COP24 side-event on "Gender and Climate Change: Showcasing Gender-Responsive and Climate Resilient Initiatives" organized by the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) and Women & Gender Constituency.

KATOWICE, 10 December 2018 – Director General LI Yong met with Green Climate Fund's (GCF) Executive Director ad interim, Javier Manzanares, and Coordinator of Support Programme in the Division of Country Programming, Lifeng LI. Earlier during COP24, UNIDO and GCF signed a Readiness Framework Agreement to enable developing countries to partner with UNIDO on activities enhancing their access to GCF. (Read the press release)
