Field Office in Turkey

General information

UNIDO Turkey Office was established in 1967, and in 2000, it became the UNIDO Centre for Regional Cooperation after the signing of a new agreement between UNIDO and the Government of Turkey. The UNIDO Centre for Regional Cooperation in Turkey is responsible for developing, coordinating and actively supporting the overall cooperation between UNIDO and the Government of Turkey, academia, the private sector and the civil society of the country for promoting sustainable industrial development.

The Centre is also responsible for the implementation of technical cooperation projects in Turkey within UNIDO’s main thematic priority areas, including poverty reduction, energy and environment and trade capacity building.

UNIDO Field Office in Turkey implements projects that provide technical assistance to Turkish Government on climate change, energy efficiency in industry, implementation of Montreal Protocol and Stockholm Convention, and clean energy technology. It also organizes international training programmes for experts from mostly Central Asia, Middle East and Africa every year.

In addition, Turkey is selected as one of the countries for the second round of Post-2015 National Consultations, therefore UNIDO Centre for Regional Cooperation in Turkey organized a round of consultations on “Engaging with the private sector” in 2014. United Nations Global Compact Turkey Network has been implementing the process jointly with UNIDO.
