16 June 2020 - The virtual United Nations Global Compact Leaders’ Summit gathered over 20,000 participants from across the globe. The 26 hours “chase-the-sun” event was organized under the umbrella of “recovering better, stronger and together” from three unprecedented and interconnected crises: inequality, health and climate change.
VIENNA, 12 June 2020 – The Director General of UNIDO, LI Yong, and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, today signed an agreement to renew cooperation on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology for inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

VIENNA, 14 July 2020 - The Director General LI Yong had a bilateral discussion with Fahad Al Gergawi, President of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) and Chief Executive Officer of “Dubai FDI”, to discuss successful past and future cooperation between UNIDO and WAIPA in support of investment promotion agencies (IPAs), specifically with regards to strategies for IPAs to tackle the contraction of global levels of foreign direct investments (FDI) caused by the global COVID-19 crisis.
