United Nations Technology Facilitation Mechanism (TFM)

UNIDO is a founding member of the TFM, which was established to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It facilitates multi-stakeholder collaboration and partnerships among Member States, civil society, the private sector, the scientific community, United Nations entities and other stakeholders.

RPA is UNIDO’s focal point for TFM’s Interagency Task Team on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (IATT) and contributes to three technical work streams:

      

United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF)

RPA coordinates UNIDO’s contributions to debates around STI issues under the framework of the HLPF.

United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD)

RPA is UNIDO’s focal point for the CSTD, the intergovernmental forum for discussions on science, technology and development.

Financing for sustainable development

RPA coordinates UNIDO’s regular contribution to the Chapter on STI and capacity-building of the Financing for Sustainable Development Report.

Partnerships with non-UN organizations

RPA is involved in various STI activities through ad hoc partnerships and collaborations with researchers and non-UN organizations with a specialized STI mandate. These partnerships include the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) of the Republic of Korea.

     

Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE)

PAGE provides integrated and holistic support to countries to eradicate poverty, increase jobs and social equity, strengthen livelihoods and environmental stewardship and to sustainable growth. The programme is adaptive and aligns with national priorities to offer tailored and effective support to transform economies and advance the 2030 Agenda and Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

United Nations Economist Network (UNEN)

RPA represents UNIDO in UNEN, a UN-wide network of economists. Meetings are regularly held to promote collaboration and information exchange across UN entities to work together on topics of shared interest to achieve the SDGs; to create synergies to address social, economic, political and environmental issues; and to develop insights into the pressing and emerging issues common across all countries. The Network’s key outputs includes thematic briefs and the UNEN Report.
