VIENNA, 21 June 2022 – Director General Gerd Müller briefed UNIDO’s Member States on the progress made during his first six month in office, sharing his vision for the months ahead and presenting UNIDO’s priorities and the new motto of “progress by innovation” during his inaugural presence at the Organization’s thirty-eighth session of the Programme and Budget Committee (PBC.38).

He emphasized that a new organizational model must go hand in hand with more global solidarity overall to provide solutions to today’s challenges, noting that “a solid engagement with UNIDO’s Member States is key”. The Director General further stressed that he will make UNIDO fit for the future by reducing bureaucracy: UNIDO will become a streamlined organization by focusing more on priority topics and greater development impact.
