VIENNA, 14 April 2022 – Today, UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller met with Alberto Piatti, Head of Sustainable Development at energy firm Eni, and Ambassador Alessandro Cortese, Italy’s Permanent Representative to UNIDO. Eni’s business model aims for long-term carbon neutrality and building alliances for local development - the kind of private sector partner UNIDO depends on to realize its goals.

Müller and the two representatives explored further opportunities for cooperation, particularly in sustainable agribusiness and green hydrogen. They found significant potential to scale up and diversify UNIDO and Eni’s joint work to support a just energy transition together with the support of the Italian government.
