UNIDO and Australia to jointly organize Vienna Food Safety Forum towards exploring policy issues related to remote audit and verification in food safety

14 July 2022

Vienna Food Safety Forum

Vienna, 14 JULY 2022 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry will join forces towards organizing an international forum on data-driven innovation in food safety, including current remote audit and verification practices in regulatory frameworks.

The upcoming Vienna Food Safety Forum will take place from 3 to 5 October 2022 in a blended format, with both face-to-face as well as online interactions, thus allowing food safety stakeholders from competent authorities, industry, service sector and academia, to explore the most recent developments in data-driven food safety innovation. Furthermore, the Forum will focus on solutions for remote audit and verification; electronic health certificates; and the data generated by voluntary third party assurance programmes.

UNIDO’s cooperation with the Australian government builds on the Organization’s longstanding engagement with the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) on remote inspection.
