Étude analytique

  Highlights

High-level violence, armed conflict and natural disasters constitute key obstacles to the achievement of the MDGs.

Apart from their direct tragic effects in the form of civilian and military casualties, they also aggravate the problem of structural impediments in the poor and least-developed countries by their detrimental effects on the economic activities and social and physical infrastructure.

What are the main political, economic and human security challenges in post-crisis poor societies? What are the priority needs in the areas of emergency, humanitarian relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction and development? What could be the key ribution of the industrial sector in post-crisis rehabilitation and reconstruction? What should be the role and ribution of UNIDO in meeting the economic challenges in post-crisis situations? Those are some of the issues which were discussed in the fourth Round Table on Post-Crisis Industrial Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
