UNIDO Global Call 2022 - winners announced

SHANGHAI - Seven awards were announced at the UNIDO Global Call 2022 Award Ceremony. The awards for green and innovative solutions in advanced digital production, green growth, medicine and health, and smart agriculture and food categories were announced in a live ceremony.  The winners were identified from a total of 452 applications from 55 countries, reviewed by an eight-member expert jury. The winners in each category were divided from two groups, SMEs and large business grouping.

 

Inspired by the previous ITPO Italy & ITPO Germany’s editions in 2020 and 2021, this year’s global call organized jointly by the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Shanghai and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University was aimed at identifying “green and innovative technologies and solutions towards Net-Zero”.

Global Call2022 Award

The winners will be given opportunities to participate in international or global industrial conferences to showcase their solutions, including in the forthcoming 2023 Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit in Abu Dhabi and the UNFCCC COP 28.

At the award ceremony, Fatou Haidara, UNIDO Managing Director of the Directorate of Global Partnerships and External Relations congratulated the winners and noted the added value of the Global Call that enabled the showcasing of innovative solutions to help address global challenges.  Her message was echoed by Stephen Karbo, UNIDO Representative and the Head of the China Regional Office, drawing on the UNIDO motto, “Progress by innovation” emphasizing the need for innovative solutions to bring the world back on track with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

 

The UNIDO Global Call is an annual flagship initiative of UNIDO and received the UN 2020 Innovation Award. The Award Ceremony was livestreamed and accessible on YouTube. Over 1,842,000 viewers followed the ceremony, making it the most viewed Global Call ceremony.
