Since 1993, UNIDO has received over USD 900 million to implement Montreal Protocol projects around the world. The funding, provided through the Multilateral Fund (MLF) for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol, is used for continued support to national ozone units in implementing phase-out activities at the country, regional and global level.

UNIDO provides technical assistance for the conversion of production lines, predominantly refrigeration and air-conditioning manufacturing lines, to low-to-zero global-warming-potential alternative technologies. UNIDO also works with policy makers to strengthen the legal and institutional framework in participating countries and with companies, industry associations and individuals to put these policies into action.

Given the growing importance of cooling applications like refrigeration and air-conditioning, these projects have a wide-ranging impact on both people and the planet. We are pleased to share some of the results achieved from MLF-funded projects implemented by UNIDO since 2010.
