Vienna, 8 July 2008 - Mr. Kandeh Yumkella, UNIDO Director-General, introduced three new UNIDO Representatives, who will take up their assignments in Lebanon, Senegal and Tunisia very soon. Ms. Carco, UR in Tunisia:
Specialized in Political Sciences and International Economics, Ms. Carco acquired an extensive experience with UNDP, WFP and UNIDO in the field of economic development and investment promotion in Africa (where she started her career), in Eastern European Countries and in the Middle East. She also worked as Private Sector Development Expert at the Italian Cooperation Department of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNIDO expert at the UNIDO/ITPO Milan (Italy). During her last assignment as UNIDO Chief Technical Adviser in Jordan she was very active in the fields of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion.
Mr. El Mekwad, UR in Lebanon:
Prior to joining UNIDO, Mr. El Mekwad served as Director of Security and Strategic Organizations in Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt. Throughout his distinguished career with the Foreign Service, Mr. El Mekwad held numerous positions in embassies and missions, in Brussels, Dakar and Vienna. Mr. El Mekwad is a graduate in Engineering of the Cairo University and holds a post-graduate diploma from the French National School of Administration (ENA). In addition to Arabic, Mr. El Mekwad speaks fluently English, French and Italian.
Mr. Koffi, UR in Senegal:
Since 1985, Mr. Koffi has contributed to the economic development of the Cote d'Ivoire by assuming several high-level governmental functions, and most recently, counselor, Permanent Mission of Cote d'Ivoire to the United Nations in Geneva and in Vienna. Throughout his assignments, Mr. Koffi has greatly contributed to inter-regional activities (G77, Conference of African Ministers of Industry, etc.) Married with three children, Mr. Koffi obtained his MSc. in economical statistics from ENSEA-CESD Paris and his PhD in Economic Sciences from the Sorbonne university, Paris.
