BEIRUT, 26 July 2011 – Representatives of Iraqi and Sudanese small and medium enterprises are taking part in a training course on packaging and labeling and its role in marketing and preservation of food products that started today in Beirut.
The two-day workshop, organized by the UNIDO Office and LibanPack, a nonprofit private association representing stakeholders from the packaging and industrial chain in Lebanon, .will be followed by field visits to packaging factories and food industries in Lebanon.
LibanPack was founded in 2008 with the support of the UNIDO, the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), and the Syndicate of Owners of Paper and Packaging Industries (SOPIL). To date, LibanPack has 85 members, most of them from packaging and food industries.
LibanPak aims to increase the competitiveness of Lebanese products through improving their packaging and ensuring compliance with international standards. LibanPack offers many services related to packaging such as technical label reviews, packaging and labeling design, structural design, training courses, consultancies on international standards, environmentally sustainable packaging, and laboratory testing.
