VIENNA, 11 February 2011 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Statoil, a leading international energy company in oil and gas production, will work together to examine the feasibility of common projects to promote sustainable energy access and industry in developing countries.

An agreement on this was signed in Vienna today by UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella, and Statoil Project Manager for Renewable Energy, Sjur Haugen.
 

VIENNA, 8 February 2011 – Proposing a policy that would help the Government of Mongolia turn its industrial development goals and projects into reality is the aim of a new report by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) presented in Vienna today.

Up to 90 per cent of Vietnamese businesses are small and medium size  enterprises (SMEs). They play a crucial role in creating jobs,  increasing incomes and contributing to the country’s development.  Despite the global economic and financial crisis, Viet Nam’s SMEs have  retained continuous development in the last few years.

JAKARTA, 24 January 2011 - Creating awareness and fostering “green industry” development in the ASEAN region by expanding and scaling-up the application of resource efficient and cleaner production methods, practices, technologies and policies were the aims of a seminar in the Indonesian capital today.

The event was co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the ASEAN Secretariat.

VIENNA, 24 January 2011 – Ways of dramatically reducing industrial CO2 emissions in the developed and developing countries at acceptable cost are outlined in new studies published by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The reports outline a path for the post-Cancun energy and climate agenda, and underline that energy efficiency, renewable energy and CO2 capture and storage need to be combined.

FREETOWN, 14 January 2011 - UNIDO Director-General, Kandeh K. Yumkella, visited the Singimi Falls in Palima, in the country’s southern district of Moyamba, on 12 January to inspect the proposed site of a 10MW hydropower dam that will serve locals, the Njala University and private companies.

“The Moyamba hydropower project is among President Koroma’s top three priority projects and part of Sierra Leone’s Agenda for Change, and UNIDO will continue to provide the technical expertise required to assist the Government in implementing the projects,” said Yumkella.

VIENNA, 14 January 2011 – A hydrogen energy Centre in Turkey, supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), has awarded this week Hydrogenics Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of hydrogen generation and fuel cell products, to build a complete electrolysis based hydrogen fueling station in Turkey.

VIENNA, 28 December 2010 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will work together to facilitate the transfer of environmentally sound technologies to Cambodia.

An agreement on this was signed in Vienna today by the Director of UNIDO’s Resource Mobilization and Quality Assurance Branch, Adrie De Groot, and the Minister Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to UNIDO, Dae-jong Yoo.
