Windhoek, 17 May 2019 – Hosted by the Government of Namibia, the First Industrial Energy Efficiency Conference organized in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) welcomed over 150 southern African and international experts to take stock of the status of industrial energy efficiency in the SADC region, share results and best practices, identify policy recommendations and outline investment prospects.

STOCKHOLM, 17 May 2019 – Innovation is integral to a country’s performance, and developing countries need to unleash their innovation potential to facilitate their transition to the digital economy. By becoming the newest liaison member of the Technical Committee of ISO on Innovation Management (ISO/TC 279), UNIDO seeks to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two entities and further disseminate innovation tools, especially to foster entrepreneurship and enhance productivity, in developing countries.

BRUSSELS, 15 May 2019 – The United Nations Development Organization (UNIDO) launched its 2019 Yearbook on Industrial Statistics today at the UN House in Brussels. High quality data is essential to measure and monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and UNIDO plays a pivotal role in data collection, coordination, reporting and validation of statistics for the SDGs, and especially for SDG9.
