VIENNA, 14 March 2019 – Today, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), LI Yong, met with the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Juan Evo Morales at the UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna.

LI Yong, who visited Bolivia in 2018, stated that “Bolivia is an important partner in the 2030 Development Agenda and Bolivia’s continuous efforts in strengthening SDG 9, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, are encouraging.”

SAN JOSE, 15 March 2019 - The issue of e-waste continues to represent a threat to both the global environment and human health, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. E-waste is the quickest-growing waste stream in the world. Currently, the world produces approximately 50 million tonnes of e-waste a year. This equals the total weight of all the commercial airliners ever made. This figure is predicted to rise to 120m tonnes by 2050.

VIENNA, 11 March 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has welcomed an announcement by the Government of Japan that it will contribute over US$5.8 million to nine projects in Ethiopia, Gabon, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, South Sudan, the State of Palestine and the Syrian Arab Republic.
