VIENNA, 6 December 2018 – A new report launched today highlights the impact of a project implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with funding from the Government of Japan. The project tackles the challenges posed by climate change by promoting low-carbon and climate-resilient (LCCR) industrial development in Africa.

NEW YORK, 3 December 2018 – The United Nations General Assembly has again approved a resolution on industrial development cooperation but this time the resolution recognizes the potential benefits for countries of concepts such as the circular economy and Industry 4.0, and contains stronger language on women’s critical role in development and their contribution to structural transformation.

KATOWICE, 4 December 2018 - In its Five Year Progress Report, the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) has announced that 137 technology solutions have been delivered or are under way in 79 countries. Two thousand five hundred people have been trained and over 10 million tonnes of CO₂eq are expected to be reduced per year with the completion of mitigation-related projects.

KATOWICE, 3 December 2018 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) signed a Readiness Framework Agreement to enable developing countries to partner with UNIDO on activities enhancing their access to GCF.

BAHRAIN, 3 December 2018 - A five-day training course on “Green industrial development – Pathways towards a Circular Economy” has opened at the University of Bahrain. The course is run by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and is supported by the Supreme Council for the Environment of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) and the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain.

ABIDJAN, 13 November 2018 – A joint framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) aimed at upgrading the region’s pharmaceutical industry in line with international Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards was successfully validated today by the Community’s Member States during a stakeholders meeting organized in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
