JOHANNESBURG, 4 May 2018 - The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Tokyo have participated in the first Japan-Africa Public-Private Economic Forum, organized by the Governments of Japan and South Africa from 3-4 May 2018 in Johannesburg. BONN, 1 May 2018 – Together with the UNFCCC Secretariat, UNIDO and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) organized three sessions for the Technical Expert Meetings on Mitigation (TEMs-M) during the UN Climate Conference in Bonn, Germany. During the three sessions, numerous experts from the public and private sector, as well as from academia and the civil society, shared experiences, policy options, technological innovations and best practices on the circular economy.

MOGADISHU, 27 April 2018 - The Government of Japan has announced that it will fund a project to strengthen community resilience through conflict resolution and youth vocational skills training in Somalia. This is one of eight new projects implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Liberia, Nigeria, Somalia and the Syrian Arab Republic, with Japanese funding totaling US$5.2 million.
