DODOMA, 19 July 2019 – The Health and Pollution Action Plan (HPAP) of the United Republic of Tanzania (URT), which was facilitated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in collaboration with the Cleaner Production Center of Tanzania (CPCT) and the World Health Organization (WHO) with funding from the European Union (EU) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), was launched today.

PHNOM PENH, 15 July 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) organized an executive briefing on industrial policymaking at the Cambodian Ministry of Industry and Handicraft (MIH), which was followed by a four-day training workshop, from 16 to 19 July 2019, on evidence-based industrial policymaking in the province of Kep. UNIDO’s training courses on industrial policymaking are very timely as the Royal Government’s objective is to modernize and transform the country’s industrial structure from a labour-intensive to a skills-driven industrial sector by 2025. To achieve this ambitious vision, Cambodia needs policymakers who are capable of drafting effective industrial policies based on reliable data and sound evidence using advanced analytical methodologies.

VIENNA, 12 July 2019 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) hosted an event on the cross-cutting contribution of the Quality Infrastructure (QI) system to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The forum highlighted the many ways in which QI improves the health and safety of workers, how the upgrading of the quality infrastructure system in Ghana enables more exports and by demonstrating how standards help manage environmental discharges and energy efficiency.

VIENNA, 12 July 2019 – Within the overall framework of economic and technical cooperation between the Government of China and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), an agreement was signed on 15 May 2017, through which China committed an initial pledge from the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund (SSCAF) to support projects in the field of inclusive and sustainable industrial development and other potential cooperation areas.
